Department of Docks - Part 2 !
Inspired by the original Dept. of Docks built in the 1800's and still standing in New York City, our version is a compressed and easy to build waterfront pier. The overall size is 3" wide x 12". It includes the pier - a lasercut base with pre-cut holes for pilings. The pier extends at the water end to create a detailed scene. The structure is lasercut clapboard and features the distinct clock tower found on the prototype. Pre-cut standing seam roofing sections make for a fine scale, easy to build tower roof.
Lasercut clock hands can be found on each face of the clock tower. Several dormers punctuate the roof for added interest.
It also includes the 28 ' utility barge.
With it's narrow footprint and it's distinct tower, it's sure to be a landmark scene on your layout.The namesake of this kit dates back to 2006 when we released our first Dept of Docks kit.
If waterfront scenery isn't for you, it'd make a great freight house by simply eliminating the pier.
